THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

Tori Vega from Victorious is a good example of the Girl Next Door.

Tori Vega goes to Hollywood Arts High School for performers has a crazy older sister who thinks she has talent but does not. She has a group of wired friends that make up a classic funny TV show group of teens.

The stereotype of the Girl Next Door is to show wholesome, unassuming femininity. As opposed to other female stereotypes like the 'tomboy', the 'femme fatale', the pink plastic 'girly girl' or just a normal slut. The girl next door is someone that most girls want to be as she is seen as good girlfriend and wife material by most men.

Tori from Victorious is a perfect example of a girl next door, as she tries really hard to be seen as sweet and innocent that can do no wrong, and tries to please and be friends with everyone.

The representation of Tori is that she wears bright happy colours has her hair in playful curls and soft baby doll make-up.

The effect of the girl next door stereotype in the media and TV shows, like Tori Vega, will have a positive effect on some girls showing them that being sweet and nice and doing what you’re told is good and you will be better liked for it and won’t have a bad reputation.

This stereotype can give a positive and negative representation of teen girls in the media. It can point out and praise the girls that do good in the community, but it can also single out the girls with  bad reputations.

I think Tori is a realistic portrayal of the girl next door and what many girls model themselves after as she demonstrates good values.

THE REBEL

Tessa Altman is a good example of the Rebel Stereotypes

Tessa Altman, is a teenaged girl who is moved by her father from New York city to to the suburbs so her dad George Altman can give Tessa, a better life after he finds a box of condoms in her drawer.

The Rebel stereotype is a person who challenges the environment they are moved into, and challenge the way of the people in in that life style community .

Tessa from Suburgatory is a perfect example of a rebel as she refuses to turn into one of the plastic make-up clade daughters of the simple minded naive suburban housewife’s.

The representation of Tessa is that she wears dark colour, and has her own style. Black biker boats and does not have her hair fashionably do or heaps of make-up.

The effect of a rebel stereotype in media representation, TV shows, like Tessa Altman will have a positive effect on teenage girls as it will teach them to be their self’s and not be like others around them, Tessa will show them that some rebellion can be good and can help you find yourself and be unique, which is what most teenage girls need.

This stereotype can give the media negative views on girls as it can show teenagers as clones or copy-cats of one another or it could say that teenage girls are out of control and want stop rebelling against their teachers and parents.

It could also encourage girls to be their selves and not act like everyone else.

I think Tessa is a realistic portrayal of the Rebel stereotype though there are also worse types of rebels (Jade West) Tessa dose no cross the line of right and wrong which is why she is a good and realistic stereotype of a Rebel.



A bad example of a Rebel West is Jade from Victorious.

The Rebel stereotype is a person who challenges the environment they are moved into, and challenge the way of the people in in that life style community.

Jade is the perfect example of a rebel from Victorious as will let people know if she does not like them and will hurt people to prove it. She likes to rebel against her school and friends and do the opposite of what is expected off her.

The representation of Jade is that she wears mostly black clothing with leather jackets and short skirts. She wears biker boats and knee length boats. With a lot of expensive jewellery.

The effect of a rebel stereotype in media representation, TV shows, like Jade will give a negative representation. Were Tessa knows the line of what is rebelling and what is just plain nasty Jade does not. She lets her temper o uncontrolled and when people try to rain her back she just hurts them physically. This is a negative representation as it could have some girls thinking it is ok to act rude and hurt others.

I think Tessa is a non-realistic portrayal of the Rebel stereotype as no one could be that mean and have the friends she dose. I think she is a negative portrayal of a Rebel.

THE KNOW-IT-ALL pt2

Hermione Granger is a teenage girl, training to be a witch at Hogwarts School in Engand.

She is the brightest girl of her age and is known as a Know-it-all, as she trys to show she is worthy of being a witch, as many are prejudice against muggel borns. We see her evolve over the years and become a girl next door while keeping her know-it-all characteristics.

Herminoe showed though the media of the Harry Ptter Films, that being smart is cool and that more girls around her age should focus on there studies, and strive to learn more, which comes in handy when she is in trouble .

This would have made a bigger ush in girls grades as they would try to bring up their grades in the hopes of being more like Hermione.

This can show that teengae girls are very susceptible to what is shown in the media as cool and the popular thing of that time and Hermione for many years Hermione was ans is cool and popular through her studies and adventours.

I think the stereotype of the Know-it-all is good as it incorages teenage girls to take more interest in school and to want to achive more actidemicly.

This is a realistic portrail as there is always a Know-it-all or try-hard in class that wil want to answer the questios and get them right, but this might be exagerated alittle by the fact that Hermione knows the answer to quite litraly everything.

The KNOW-IT-ALL

Hermione Granger is a good example of the Know-it-all stereotypes.

A Know-it-all is a person who strongly believes thay are right about everything and has a solution or plain for everything. Know-it-alls are commonly found in work offices and classrooms.
 The characteristics that are commonly found in Know-it-alls can include constant talking, wont listen to the opinions of others, costanty show off their 'superior' knowlage and a controlling attitude towards those around them.

Hermione displays this stereotype in the "Harry Potter" books and films, she does not feel any shame in always putting her hand up to answer questions or prove Harry and Ron wrong. Hermione is the firts to notice important facts in a situation, and loves to display her higher knowlage compared to her friends.

The stereotype of the Know-it-all in women is pro-feminst as it shows that women can have the stronger knowlage than men and shows that women can be in charge and hold their own in any situation.
Hermione is a good example of this stereotype of the Know-it-all as she displays these qualities but in a good hearted light.
